About this list
Some chess around Warsaw costs nothing at all. The Sunday chess meeting on ul. Mazowiecka 12 in Śródmieście is free and open to all comers, from people learning the moves to players with years of tournaments behind them. In Żoliborz, Klub Szachowy Królowa M. is presented by the local culture centre as a free meeting of neighbourhood players aged sixteen and over, on ul. Marii Kazimiery, and it has held a duck chess tournament.
Outside the city, the Family Otwock Autumn Chess Festival on ul. Poniatowskiego in Otwock charges no entry fee; it is organised each October by the town’s youth culture centre with MKS Arkadia and plays in groups for children and adults. In Otwock the Król Batory club also keeps its Friday evening meetings free, while its classes are paid.
