Where Warsaw plays blitz 18

Blitz in Warsaw ranges from club evenings to a garden party. Blitz & Drinks, an evening series of the Business Chess League SGH, plays seven rounds at three minutes plus two seconds and has been held at Klub Opera near Teatralny square. Each June the league adds a blitz picnic in the rectors’ gardens of the SGH main building, played for the Rector’s Cup.

UKSz Hetman runs FIDE-rated blitz evenings alongside its rapid ones, UKS Twierdza Mokotów mixes blitz into its tournament programme, and UKS Sparta Białołęka plays an open blitz championship each spring. The Mazovian chess association sets the regional blitz championships in its calendar, and Fundacja Polskie Szachy, which runs the business league, also organises company events and open tournaments in rapid and blitz.
