Junior and family tournaments 5

Young players in Mazovia have a calendar of their own. The Warsaw Youth Olympiad is played over three days in June in rapid and classical chess, and its report ranks the clubs by the results of their pupils. The Mini League is a team championship for children: one recent edition was held in Góra Kalwaria and the next was run by UKS Najdorf Szczęsne, with clubs from Warsaw, Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Pruszków and Zielonka taking part.

Older juniors meet in the third and fourth junior leagues, played in the CAiIS sports hall in Grodzisk Mazowiecki together with UKS Szachowa Dwójka. Two October events are open to families: the Family Otwock Autumn Chess Festival on ul. Poniatowskiego, free to enter, and the Brustman Memorial in Wawer, which is open to children. Many clubs listed under clubs also hold age-group events of their own.
